Agrotechnical requirements for sprayers

Agrotechnical requirements for boom sprayers

The main requirement for the sprayer - uniform processing of the entire territory without gaps and repeats at the most economical consumption of the drug. Processing should be carried out at a wind speed less than 4 m/s, a temperature lower than 25° C, no rain and abundant dew. Do not spray plants during flowering.

Refueling with working fluid can be carried out on access roads, turning lanes, that is, near the place of work. The sprayer can be equipped with a self-refueling system or an external pump is required. The boom sprayer must be adapted to work with all chemicals used in agriculture. It can be emulsions, suspensions, solutions.

Uniform processing in length and width

A sign of high-quality processing with the plant protection products at a visual assessment of the upper part of the sheet are drops in the amount of at least 20 pieces per 1 cm². Allowable deviations from the specified application rate are 5% with automatic control of the spraying process and 10% with manual.

Spray nozzles should be selected in such a way that the median-mass diameter of the droplets at the planned pressure does not exceed 500 µm (processing by the plant protection products). Covering the top side of the sheet is at least 80%, the bottom is 60%, the coefficient of variation within a single sheet (uneven processing) is 25%, the coefficient of variation within the width of the sprayer boom is no more than 25%, the length of the sprayer passage is 20%.

The maximum permissible deviation of the volume of the poured liquid between the nozzles on the rod is not more than 5%.

Fluid supply system

The concentration of the working fluid in the spray tank should remain constant, the allowable change at the time of application is no more than 5%. The application process must continue uninterruptedly until the tank is 95% empty.

Directly during processing, damage to plants by working mechanisms should not exceed 0,5%.

It is unacceptable to hit the working fluid droplets on plants located in the adjacent field. For this reason, it is better to use a pour out rate of at least 200 l/ha and use sprayers that give drops of 200 microns. It was discussed in more details in the article «What is better - to reduce the concentration of the solution or the rate of outflow?».

All parts that may come into contact with the working fluid must be made of corrosion resistant materials.

The depreciation period of the service sprayer should be 6 years. The resource must be at least 1800 hours of work. The specific indicators of the complexity of maintenance and the elimination of failures should not exceed 0.05 person-hours per hour. The availability factor of the boom sprayer for operational time is 0.97.

Agrotechnical requirements for fan sprayers

After processing, there should be at least 30 droplets/cm² of the active substance on the leaf surface. Permissible deviation from the required application rate of not more than 5% when using an automatic system regulating the flow of the solution and 10% when using a manual system.

The coefficient of variation (uneven deposition of the working fluid) for perennial plantings should not exceed 100% (for vineyards - 150%). When controlling the permeability of all spray nozzles, the performance of each of them should not differ by more than 5% from the average for all.

Works should be performed without failures when emptying the working fluid tank to 5% of full capacity.

Reliability requirements for fan sprayers do not differ from those for other equipment.
